Basically, I just figured out how the software works, other than the fact I borrowed some samples to learn how to use it. There's a song the band I play does, and it would be cool to compose it on fami. Well, the next thing I'm stumped on is how to change notes to play 16ths or 32nds on particular notes?

Note durations in famitracker (and in trackers in general) are arbitrary. Depending on however you choose to space out your quarter notes, that is.

At a first glance, it may seem natural to have a quarter note happen every 4 rows, which would make every single row 16th notes. But what if you wanted 32nd notes in there? There's no room! So, simply double the spacing. Make every 8 rows a quarter note, and that'll make each individual row 32nd notes. You'll have to bump the speed up to compensate, but that's no problem.

It's not like writing out staff music and having to pick different lengths of notes, you simply enter in the note where it is supposed to hit.

Thank you for your response to the thread! Basically I doubled the bpms and now I'm able put in the 16ths, just gotta work on it more and get use to the software.

Thanks!

Another way I've seen it done is just to double speed where you need it, so you use an effect command to double the speed for, say, 40 lines where you need a few 32nd notes, then put it back to "normal."
