Just curious. I've set up shortcuts to shift a note a pitch up or down, and an octave up or down. It's extremely useful when i'm close to the correct pitch, but not quite on it.

This sort of functionality would be super useful in the volume column. Say my whole pattern is 7 3 7 3 7 3 7 3 etc for a given channel. I can highlight the notes in that channel and press transpose up one note, and they all go up in pitch. I can't do that with the volume, to just highlight the volume and adjust them all incrementally.

Unless i'm missing something, could you perhaps consider this in a future build? It would be very useful.

Or maybe it's in there now and i'm just not very observant.

Thanks, guys~

CTRL + mouse wheel is the default for pretty much everything. Whether or not you knew this and specifically want a key shortcut, I don't think there is an assignable key.

Thanks!

Wait. I just tested it. It doesn't work with the volume.

Shift-Mouse wheel also works for instruments and effects. Ctrl-mouse wheel transposes notes but not other stuff, as I know.

It's really easy, just select all the volume values you want to change and press Shift and Mouse wheel. However, I think this doesn't work when your selection crosses more than one channel.

[You know, you can actually select the instrument, volume and effects columns all together and change their values at the same time with this]

Volume macros aren't intended to be adjusted in this way, since the volume scale isn't linear. For instance, 6 is twice the volume of 3, but 8 is less than twice the volume of 5. I guess there could be a macro adjust which accounts for the non-linearity, but you can already change the overall channel volume by using the volume column.

edit: Hmm, didn't read the subject line.

Curiously enough I wasn't aware of this - is there any graph available that shows the non-linear curve of the volume scale? I'm a little bit interested in this.

I'd actually appreciate a key for this, since my laptop does not have a scroll wheel.

Does your touch pad not have a multi-touch function that emulates one?

Very similar to decibel scale in modern audio (multiply/divide any volume by a number and get the same amount of change), at least in emulation. I have a powerpak coming, so maybe I can do a bit of testing.

The touch pad has a scroll gesture, it works as a mouse wheel in some situations but not all. It will scroll the famitracker pattern, but it does not work with CTRL pressed. Even if it did, the gestures are completely inadequate for making a precise amount of scroll which you would need in this situation.

Quote Magic :

I calculated a table from the approximation used in famitracker: 95.88 / ((8128.0 / (vol)) + 100.0)

15: 100% (0dB)
14: 94% (-0.5dB)
13: 89% (-1.06dB)
12: 83% (-1.66dB)
11: 77% (-2.32dB)
10: 70% (-3.05dB)
9: 64% (-3.87dB)
8: 58% (-4.8dB)
7: 51% (-5.86dB)
6: 44% (-7.1dB)
5: 37% (-8.58dB)
4: 30% (-10.42dB)
3: 23% (-12.82dB)
2: 15% (-16.24dB)
1: 8% (-22.15dB)

(Using linear approximation would be good enough, as you can see.)

SO hey, why is this information not in the wiki article on volume. I had been taking 7 or 8 to be roughly 50% volume provided the instrument doesn't have any changes volume. If this is not the case, it would certianly be good to know.
