You know that thing where a song is going at speed 1, right? Simple enough. But I was looking through a few songs the other day when I saw every row in a channel taken up by a different note - at freakin' SPEED ONE! Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?
Well, if you managed to follow my abstract train of thought, I would be delighted if any of you could tell me what that technique is actually used for. Sorry if this is unclear, but look through a few more advanced covers - especially megaman stuff - to see what I mean. Thanks.
Actually - here's a link to Rushjet1's cover of MM1's soundtrack. The song 'Wily' is a brilliant example of what I mean, but its in a lot of the other stuff, too.

I hope he doesn't mind being used to illustrate a point.

People sometimes track at speed 1 in order to be able to manipulate everything within the tracker itself and not by instruments - pitch-bending line by line at speed 1 is akin to pitch-bending within the instrument.
It's more a case of preference than anything, since some people enjoy wielding power over just the tracker and some people prefer using instruments for different purposes.
The demo song Belle is tracked using just a blank instrument and everything going on in the tracker, so it might be cool to check that out.

Prime example here.
Thanks! I was wondering what all that was about. I'll be sure to utilize this later on.
