It's the Madman here!

I was working with famitracker recently when I realised - I have no idea how to synthesize or emulate the majority of instruments. Drums, piano, blips and bloops, and maybe even strings are all easy as pie. But damn, the oboe? Bongos? The pipe organ, pizzicato strings, a timpani, all these other weird instruments take a LOT of time to simulate, especially for us newbs or those of us with little musical background. I'm sure a lot of you would agree.

So what I'm hoping for is a place where forum users can request or share more realistic instruments, so we can circumvent the trial and error process of trying emulate instruments we might not even possess. Perhaps it could also be used to instruct where the sounds fit into a piece, or the different variations on each instruments, or how to construct the sounds from scratch.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas how to implement or improve this little idea, maybe a stickied thread or an ever growing FTM file containing every instrument, or maybe even a wiki page (just any ideas I can think of), be sure to reply.

Just as an example, here's a list of eight instruments that any newcomer (myself included) would be hard-pressed to create:

1. Xylophone
2. Flute
3. Bongo drums (without dpcm, for more control)
4. Pipe organ
5. Pizzicato strings
6. Bells
7. Oboe
8. Trumpet (or any brass, actually)

Thanks all, from LeMadman.

Welcome to the forums.

There's actually already a stickied [url=http://famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=1032]'Post your instruments here' thread in the Show Off Your Work section. It's 24 pages of stuff as of now; you should be able to find what you need there.
