Hey, I'm new here and to tracking. Just wondering, where do you guys get inspiration from when making a song? I like to listen to electropop or have a good old game of Mega Man 5

It depends on what I'm trying to compose for me.
If I'm trying to follow the old Nintendo style, I'll follow the works of Soyo Oka, Koji Kondo, or Hirokazu Tanaka. Capcom, which is popular around here? I actually follow Yasuaki Fujita, and Minae Fujii a lot more than other Capcom musicians. Sometimes, I'll listen to some of Shinji Hosoe's music, or SUPERSWEEP, and try to get a sound similar to that. That's where I usually get my inspiration from. Now, with music other than chip music? I draw inspiration from anyone I can think of, like Hideki Naganuma. And it's not even limited to game music composers. I'll draw inspiration from Hive, Apollo 440, The Neptunes, Crush 40, and sometimes, even orchestras. It just depends on what I want to compose.
