Heya, new guy here.

Just was seeing how you guys like what i made in 1 day. Nothing too fancy, but any solid tips on getting better stuff is always apreciated!

Do note, only have it 1 day, so i could have missed some features (for example, didnt figure out the sampler thing yet. Any tips on finding samples to import into that would be great!)

Anyway, sleepy time.
Don't be nice, just tell me how badly (and in what ways) i suck so i can improve!

Cheers,
PalmMute!

Use a P7F or a P81 when you make echoes, firstly. Second, the bass line is a bit crazy, though I admire your triangle drum skills. Third, triangle has no volume control. Last, the lead instrument could have been made better, and the Sxx effect helps also.

Other than that, I don't see anything else.

Haha, i just like diminished'y stuff. Jazz/metal habits, was kinda hoping that a arp that fleshes out the tonality would help it out a bit, but i guess it doesnt.
(I kinda stole it from a song i am working on soundcloud.com/palmmuteprod/wip-bitmashine-the-palmmute, 36 seconds in. That also is my first attempt at making 8-bit music btw, even tough i cheated a lot with non 8 bit things.)

I used the general NES console, so all the vollume changes i tried to do to the bass werent responding, vollume fades provided cutoffs. It seemed like it only responded to 0 or 15 vollume, not sure how to fix that yet. any help would be dearly apreciated.

and use the P7F/P81 on the echo track? I used D05 right now with 1 step later. Not exactly sure how you mean it. But i assume using the P7F/P81 on the echo track.

Going to my job right now so a brief explenation what the Sxx does?
Since the wiki sais it mutes a delay, but i assume it doesnt work cross tracks.

Ayway, thanks for the feedback man!!
Have a great day!

Oh, lol.

That's what I meant by saying that the triangle has no volume control. It either plays or it doesn't. There are ways to mess around with the triangle volume, but it's complicated.

D05? That's not what I meant. P7F/P81 slightly detunes the channel so that it creates a nice chorus effect when the two notes play together. Not required, but still nice.

Sxx is an effect that cuts off a note xx ticks after the effect. Since your song is at speed 3, meaning that it uses 3 ticks a row, placing an S02 on the row right before a note will stop the previous note playing the tick before the next note plays.

I meant that i used the D05 effect before. saw it in a tutorial and taught it sounded a bit better because there was some slight overlap.

And i assume playing with the triangle volume involves canceling out of the wave partially?

And thanks for the S02 tip, ill edit it a bit and see what happens!

Thanks a lot for the tips anyway!

That would be interesting to see, but no that's not what I meant. Play around with the Zxx effect and see how that affects triangle volume if you really want to know. Careful, though, as it also affects noise volume.

Oh thanks, i have the effects list open at all times, but i guess you only really see the things you relate to direcly!

Apreciate the help a lot, will finish the song somewhere this week and post the finished thing here, since this thread has been moved to showing off work anyway.

Cancelling out is a concept that you get into with FDS, N163, and the like. I haven't quite figured it out, but if you want to find out for yourself, go ahead.
