elevatorfan7072; seeing that you're still quite new to FamiTracker, maybe your best bet is to start simple so as to get comfortable with the program first. I'm sure you can pick things up fast, but it's easier to start simple. Use the wiki on this site & the help file that came with the program too; both are very helpful &, I can tell you from experience, they saved me a few times.
And most importantly, if you're trying to get used to FamiTracker, try to avoid diving into multi-chip music & other more complex features, especially if you needed to ask about using the volume column & Bxx effect 12 hours ago (not to discourage you from asking questions when you need to).
Keep it simple to get used to FamiTracker. Then, once you're more familiar with the program, give the more complex features your best shot.

i fully disagree with Techemporium. Just do what the hell you wanna do. Honestly it's MUCH harder to write a good 2a03 song than any mulitchip. So start big and slowly work your way to less and less. Wisely using so little channels takes experience with the program.
The only true challenge you'll have with multichip is Volume Balance.

I seriously agree with you. Often times when he says "start simple" he implies that you should force you're self to the 2a03 rather than letting do what you want. It's like telling a gutair player to start with a keyboard because it's "simpler"
Yeah def start slow and learn the basics of the hardware you're composing for before venturing any further with complicated expansion chips.

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3633]request a hardware render.
How is 2a03 only starting slow? Explain? Why is it that I have much less problems writing with more channels then not? Yes I play a friggin' instrument. I did NOT start slow.
I only took about 3 months of guitar courses, and quit because of exactly that, the teacher was like, 'hey let's start slow and play boring ass 4 chord tunes'.
Sure it was probably the right route to go, but VERY unmotivating. I was a metalhead and cared not about playing aerosmith or country music. I almost quit guitar because of that.
Then I decided I would try learning metal songs on my own. Bam, after only 1 year, I was already playing songs from my favorite metal bands. So it depends on how badly you want to succeed at this. If you put in the same amount of time you would with any passion, magic will happen.
So do what you want and work hard at it.
Edit: This is assuming you have some kind of musical background. If not, I doubt a tracker is the place to start.
Re-Edit: I kinda understand what people mean now, I wasn't looking at the big picture. There are a lot of things to learn about each and every expansion pack. So maybe it IS a better idea to go ahead and tackle each expansion alone before mixing them together right away.
