FF8's soundtrack was the thing that got me into VGM, oddly enough. It's one of those big elements of my childhood.

In any case, I really like this cover. You made the VRC7 sound good; any time I've tried to touch it, I wound up hating the sound eventually.

Why do instruments 2, 3 and 4 all use the same built-in patch? 5 and 6 also use the same patch.

VRC7 volume is way too loud in comparison with the 2A03, so you might want to adjust the mixing.

Musically speaking though, great job.

lol most likely i had them as something different beforehand, before i changed them around to what they are now. that happens to me a lot more than it should, and i never really optimize it because i don't think much of it, leading to having a lot more instruments around than necessary.

Yeah, I know how you feel.

Sometimes I've unused instruments around because I tend to remove and change sections, sometimes droping instruments with out removing them completely. I guess that's how some game developers do things as well.

I don't think game developers (especially NES game developers) would leave in unused stuff on purpose, considering the very limited amount of space they're given. In the context of a modern-day NES tune though, it's probably okay (but not preferable) to leave in unused instruments. There's a feature to remove them anyway.
