Well look what happened when I was gone.

Yeah, Fezuke and anyone else, if you posted anything here or will post a song here, I'd like you guys to make clear whether or not you want anyone to do anything they want with the song. Basically, choose between CC-BY (anyone can do anything given attribution), CC-BY-ND (no derivatives), or removal of any songs, if you really want to.

Again, i'm passing for the bad/mean guy......I clearly stated that modifying wrong notes/tempo's is perfectly fine. Don't forget you guys were asking as much as possible to add the LEAST instruments as possible, which I very much did. I only used what was already there. But now that some are modified, it makes a big difference to the way it sounds...
(To me anyways)

You know what? Why am I even caring about this, it's just covers anyways. Just do what the hell you want with them. I lack the talent to cover accurately like you guys. I'm done here.

You are not the bad guy for expressing your opinion, Fezuke. About instruments, the main one to blame is me for the most part since I have added a whole load of instruments to the main module. If there's one I would get rid of, it's instrument 22 (Doomsday bass) because it's not something I like nor it's too important for the song to sound good.

The main modules, along with the template, have the instruments restored to their previous state now.

I disagree, the covers you have done for the project are pretty good. Maybe you think the opposite because you focus mostly on original songs (which are damn awesome) and not too much on covers, but this doesn't mean you don't have the talent to make them.

You can't demonstrate that to yourself, which happens very often, but I bet most of us think that your covers are good. It's okay if you don't feel it that way, and I've suffered from that a lot, but please, don't say you aren't talented. I wouldn't have been able to do a thing with Death Egg if I had to cover it by ear.

Think of it a lot. You may not know you are good at this, but I think you actually are. I don't believe I would have listened to your covers for more than an hour if they weren't that good.

EDIT: I'm taking a rest. I'll be checking this thread often and update the modules when needed, but I probably won't be doing covers for a while. I leave Mushroom Hill 2 free so anyone can cover it now. Perhaps I'll be back next week or so, but for the moment, I need to rest.

Final boss is done. I hope it's good enough to hang with the rest.

There are three new instruments: 38, 39, 3A. No existing instruments were edited. The cover is unaffected by the restoration back to original instruments by Mister Master. I would prefer that the cover and its instruments aren't edited by others.

So, unless something happens, I'll be working on...

It would also be useful that in case people add DPCM samples to the template, they post here saying they did, because I usually forget to add those to the module, and, as a result, you'll notice that once again, Lava Reef 1 is screwed up in the previous update.

Anyways, nice cover Shywolf! I have added it to the module and as you requested, it won't be modified, though some small advice goes for you:

When you make anything using the VRC7, make sure you balance the volume of all the channels as best as possible. This is very hard to accomplish, so you might have a hard time doing so, but the effects of it can be awesome. The problem is that the VRC7 is mixed a lot louder than 2A03, so keeping the overall volume below 0xC or 0xB would be nicer, so everything can be heard equally.

Part 1 is updated and those freaking samples are added. I hope I don't find myself having to do so again because it frustrates me a lot. Funny fact is, the update on the last page had that fixed but the previous one didn't!

EDIT: Forgot to say, go ahead, Mushroom Hill 2 is all yours if you want to cover it!

EDIT2: Bl4ck_M0on, are you still there? I'm gonna nag you really hard this time! What version of the module did you update when you added the Pinball Bonus song? I'm asking because Rushjet1's Angel Island fix and Mushroom Hill 1 instrument restoring weren't implemented in this one either, so I fixed it.

Please, from now on, include new songs in the template module, and if you ever decide to update the whole project again, make sure you use the latest version so problems like this are avoided.

I also updated Mushroom Hill 1, since I had fixed the instruments in the second to last frame because some were not placed correctly, as za909 stated. This wasn't present either in the newest version, so it's giving me a lot of trouble. Also, I have removed triangle bass in this song because it didn't sound good as it does in some of the other tracks.

To everyone else, let me know if there are more problems with the tracks or if you wish something to be changed.

Thanks Mr.Master. You cheered me up. What I meant by my comment was that I am MEGA jealous at how you and Poodlecock have been doing your covers. They sound so fucking amazing and close to the original, where as mine are easily recognizable, but I really don't have the sounds right. I guess I should relax as this is my first VRC7 attempts ever so it's pretty normal. I guess the fact mostly my covers were the ones being fiddled on, made me realize that maybe they needed much more work then I gave them. I'm sorry for stirring up a little bit of drama, seems like i'm good at that lately lol.

As for poodlecock's question, i'll stop being a baby and keep them CC-BY.

BTW thanks for all the fixes to my songs guys, whether it's notes, drums etc.

Bl4ck_moon I really love your Balloon park cover. I wanted to do it a while back, but i'm glad you did it :D

Carry on! The project is getting closer to completion. Great job everyone.

Don't be jealous! I also started terrible, as nearly everyone does, but practice has brought me where I am now. The same goes for you, these are your first VRC7 attempts so you can't really expect much, but in the end, if you keep persistent and practice a lot with it you'll end up being as good as we are (not saying that I'm really good at this but I put my bit of effort! :D).

You are awesome with originals, and I'm pretty sure that all your practice is what conceeds you that position.

I feel glad that you realized this and that you are not mad now, so this makes me happy. Thank you too for your support and your contributions to the project. If you want to do more covers, go ahead, it serves you as practice, you know?

I don't remember, perhaps the 9-28 version.

Well, it's okay for now, but make sure you use the latest module if you really want to update it. I think it would be better if you submit templates so this can be avoided, okay?

@Mr_Master: Understood, I will make it like that.

In addition, Act 2 boss theme is almost complete.

Later!

As promised, here's the act 2 boss music.

But to be honest, I don't really like the way it sounds, but the fact is I don't see how I could improve it. If you want to make some changes, I wouldn't say no.

That's all for now. See you later

PS: I think the final boss music sounds a little too fast, don't you?

The song's pretty good, though the first frame sounds like the notes are static. What I mean is that they don't feel like they are changing at any moment, because the B-4 notes in FM 4 and 5 are overpowered.

Also, you are using the VRC7 so there's no real need to use only five FM channels, as I have seen in most if not all your tracks. You can take advantage of it if you want.

I'll post the new version in a few minutes, and I'll probably edit your song to show you what I'm talking about. Still, it sounds pretty good so there's not much that can be done to make it sound better!

EDIT: Yeah, Final Boss goes a bit faster than it should but Shywolf stated in his post that he doesn't want the song to be modified by others, so it's up to him if he wants to fix it.

EDIT2: Failed miserably, I wasn't able to edit the song so it sounded good (I ruined it instead), so I'll leave it as it is and in any case, others can attempt to make some edits so it sounds a bit better. The first frame is the only which doesn't sound good to me.

EDIT3: Part 1 is updated. Also, you messed up again Bl4ck_M0on because you didn't use the newest template, though it doesn't affect the importing process at all, so no worries here!

Huh, now go and guess who forgot to add you to the credits.

Thanks for the feedback. There are some other minor mistakes in there, too. Sorry! I'll post an update a little bit later.

Hi everyone, this is S3K Clear. No updates for Part 1, except for credits, so I still include it.

Now you can all kick me because I added an instrument for Part 2.

Different templates included for Part 1 and 2, since they have different instruments. If someone is confused about which template should they use, ask here for the moment. I'll post a list when I have more time, which will say which template you should use for the song you want to cover.
