The best thing that I've used to play .gbs files, AND analyze the waveforms within them, is NEZ Player. And it's very easy to analyze, too, and you have the option of channel mask. It can also play NSF, and a few other formats.

It's a little difficult to track down, unfortunately, so you will have trouble finding it.
