1. Opening any N163 instrument that contains multiple waves will count as a change, prompting you to SaveChanges when exiting. This also happens even if only 1 wave is called in the Wave macro.
This is not consistent with viewing instruments for other chips nor single wave namco instruments.
2. Qxy/Rxy commands on noise now does export to nsf correctly, but it doesn't sound right in the tracker. Compare the attached ftm in the latest stable vs the beta.
I finished testing the main things (volume, wave switching and DPCM in NSF). Everything works fine and now I can export my DC7 entry and the FTM with each separate song.
I tried three NSFs which had trouble with bad volume exporting and now they seem to be the same as in FTMs, so I would say it has been fixed. One of them had a wave switching problem which is no longer there, so that's something that seems okay, except for one thing:
Do you remember when I posted the attached files a few months ago? There's still something wrong in the NSF which is present in song #3, where the bass waveform is changed to another one which I never defined in any instrument (it's Namco channel 1, by the way). It's only happening in frame 01, and after the song plays the next frame it gets back to normal. I'll see if there's a way to bypass this bug.
Everything else seems fine, but I'll keep using this version to see if there are any other problems in the FTMs or NSFs.
Thanks for this new beta, you have made my day!
EDIT:
No new features at the moment.
I wouldn't agree with that because I think I found some new features.
First, there's a counter beside the timer which shows the current row and frame while playing (well, not much of a feature though), and there's now a FAQ selection in the help menu.
Second, there are some changes in the DPCM edit window, where some captions have changed and now there's zoom capability (I can't really confirm if the disappearing info bug is still there though).
And last, I see there's now an option that disables selection when double-clicking, and there's also an option which says "Preview full row". Not sure what this one does though. I also see you added a new format to the window caption (FTM name [Song number and name]). This is very neat and I was looking forward to seeing it in a near future.
Well, I see the upcoming version will be even more awesome than the current stable we have. I will patiently wait for the new version while I use this one for everything I make so I'll be sure to check if there's new stuff or issues that needs to be fixed. Thanks again for it.
EDIT2: I tested an old module of mine and the FDS wave switching doesn't seem to be there. It switched to a 50% pulse wave before but now it plays normally.
EDIT3: I tried to open a 5B module that would open fine with 0.4.2 but it doesn't let me do it. Also, if I try using the text importer the program crashes. I know the 5B expansion is still not supported but the previous version would let you open modules that had it enabled without problem. I attached a minidump generated after the crash.
Now that I downloaded the beta, the cursor doesn't follow the song anymore when it's playing. It just sits there with a purplish line going down and offscreen.

Hit "Follow-mode" in the top-right corner of the screen. I agree though, it should be on by default.

Ok, a real bug report this time: Whenever I use the Qxx/Rxx commands, the sound doesn't climb up towards the final pitch, but hops there instead, compare this file in the beta and 0.42, specially the Q82 command in frame two, song 1, FDS channel

When you input a note, FamiTracker plays all channels instead of only the instrument you are using, also applying any volume and effect in other channels.

I noticed now that the default behaviour for follow mode is off, I'll change that back. (That setting is now remembered.)
I wouldn't agree with that because I think I found some new features.
Yeah there are some minor new features. I'll supply a change log later.
I've tried to fix the last known DPCM editor bugs. The sub song title is displayed in the window title because the song list box is often too small to display the whole song name. Preview full row will preview all channels when inserting notes, as in TFM music maker.
5B is completely disabled until it's finished btw. I refer to an actual working solution until then.
The Beta makes a 'Retrigger' popping sound when a new FDS note is pressed. The older version continues with the phase.
Also when FDS expansion is activated and I activate or deactivate a Channel from the Internal sound the FDS Sound stops completely until a new note is triggered
EDIT1: Just found out that whenever I activate/deactivate a channel (with or without any expansion) ANY channel mutes till another note is triggered.
Would it be possible to have a checkbox to switch n163 multiplexing to linear?
I am still stuck on v0.4.1, anything newer is impossible to use for this reason
i'm using slimeball's 0.4.2 build, it removes the hiss. i dont really know if this changes the multiplexing or something, but it sure does save my ears from bleeding.
Would it be possible to have a checkbox to switch n163 multiplexing to linear?
Thats actully like with the hiss.
The Multiplexing cant be disabled, like the hiss, either that cant be disabled. Only someone would take his time to modify FamiTracker to disable the Hiss and set the multiplexing to linear.
FamiTracker is buid to emulate the Chips, not to correct them.
Yeah just use either rainwarrior's or slimeball's 0.4.2 build. When 0.4.3 gets a final release and the source becomes available, it will probably be possible to make a similar modified 0.4.3 build for that purpose.
In the meantime, there's not really any reason to be using 0.4.3 beta 1 over 0.4.2 for N163 stuff.
