This is a cover of Pallet Town from Pokémon Red/Blue. (Curse you Windows for not giving me an easy way to type an accented E!) I'm pretty sure I nailed it.
At first I decided to have this use 2A03, but it sounded wrong to me. So I decided to use FDS, but I couldn't get the wave right. Then I found this:
This is the correct FDS wave for instrument 04.

I'm relatively new at all this. How in the world do people determine these custom shaped FDS waves in gameboy tracks? Is there some sort of list of common ones floating around?
No, I don't think there's a list of common GB waveforms floating around, though you might ask one of the other people around here.
Also, please don't bump old threads.
Also, welcome to the forums, insomniacovrlrd.

GB waveforms fit perfectly in N163 and you can change waveforms a lot easier without using 900 BPM (speed F01) and I also think that you can hear a small pop everytime you change the waveform in FDS, and yet, everyone seems to be using FDS instead of N163...
Are there any kind of advantages to use FDS over N163 (if you're covering a GB song)?
It has been mentioned in this thread why. I trust that rainwarrior knows his stuff.
I like this cover DevEd. It sounds fairly accurate and this song as almost all of the tracks from the Pokémon games up until generation 4 holds a special place in my childhood. I do not have much to say about this except that the volume seems a little off, I cannot put my finger on it but I think the FDS is still a little bit too loud. Also, did you get bored with the A04 commands? If you were not aware, you do not have to repeat that command since it will last until another Axy command changes it or an A00 cancels it out so repeatedly having A04s everywhere serves no purpose other than to look kinda fun.
Also, use the Pxx command to fine-tune the notes to get them even more accurate.
You seem to really like to cover Pokémon stuff though, and I cannot blame you. Those tracks are awesome.
