I've been watching a lot of music lessons on YouTube (centered around guitar) and learning a bunch of new theory so I decided to put it to use.
This is a little 16 bar progression I wrote in Phrygian mode (though there's non-diatonic stuff in there too) which takes advantage of dominant substitution, flat-five substitution and modal interchange to give it some interesting flavor and ensure strong cadences.
It's pretty simple but it's definitely more than a doodle, hence the thread.
Here's the progression written out:
[color=magenta]PHRYGIAN
I (x2) | VI (x2) | VMA (x2) | V7 (x2)
I (x2) | VI (x2) | VMA, V7 | II, I7
IV (x2) | III (x2) | VII (x2) | IV (x2)
IV (x2) | III (x2) | IIM7, IIm | II, II7(b5)
