'Sup, everyone? We're getting ready for our end of the year show for band, and as a result, my director has put the songs from our marching show back online. I was waiting for a moment like this, because I've been wanting to recreate the first song in FT. Now I finally have the chance, and I'm using every expansion (minus 5B) to do it. It's turning out... all right, so far; most of the problems are with the whole balance of the song. The biggest, most glaring issue, however, is percussion. I was planning on using VRC7 for the pit (xylophone, marimba, etc.), but what about the snare and bass drums? I have no problem leaving out the bass guitar and other weird percussion like the quint toms, but I don't know how to go about it. I'm attaching the song and the sheet music. Do whatever you think will sound good. Remember: this isn't Pat Metheny's original version of Beat 70, this is my band director's version that was written specifically for our show this year (well, with a few tweaks. You'll get it when you hear frame 0B).
Oh, and yes, the trumpet on Namco 1 and mellophone on Namco 3 are using Zamual's trumpet instrument from his Gusty Garden cover. I needed an instrument to actually sound good on N163 (and so I could learn a bit about how exactly N163 works.)
Last thing, if you're gonna look at the sheet music: not every instrument is in concert pitch. I'll give you guys a little chart:
Clarinet, tumpet and tenor sax are in Bb. You have to move their music a note down to sound right in FamiTracker, on piano, or anything else that's in concert C.
Alto and bari sax are in Eb. Basically, just move their notes two up.
Mellophone is in F (like a french horn). Just move it up three notes.
I have no idea how drum music works. This is why I hope at least one of you are drummers.
I really appreciate this, a ton. I want to blow everyone's mind at school.

It feels a bit empty at some places, but overall is good. If you want to use VRC7 for percussions, you must remember that only one custom patch may be used at the same moment. Maybe you could transform some of those note cuts in note releases so the notes don't halt immediately.
Also, you have DPCM and Noise channels for percussion, so maybe you should grab some samples and convert them into FT.
I'm sorry I can't really help with those issues, but maybe doing some of the things I said, you could improve the song a little.
I've made some small progress. Here's what I've got. We could also try switching the snare and the hihat channels around, so that the Hat is in the DPCM, and the Snare is in the Noise.
Edit 1: I added some volume control, and removed a lot of immediate note cuts. To make it sound smoother.

Rade Dobison, at your service.
I fixed a few more things around. We just need to add the rest of the percussion and mess with the volume with the winds.
Also, if I mess with your help, it's not because I want it my way. It's because, well, it's my marching show, and I don't want to deviate TOO far away from what was intended.

dammit i got a 403 on the file. So I can't do too much because I'm not familiar with this song, but I replaced the snare and added a few toms to the beginning.
