So I attempted to recreate Legendary Wings' side scrolling stage boss BGM, I was on a roll until this part here....(Click the "LW" file)
I got stumped on the square waves because I couldn't get the notes to progress that fast on Famitracker like it did in the original. I also included the FTM)
Also does the Gxx note delay effect in square 2 apply to get that echo effect? If so what are the suggested parameters?
You can change playing speed using Fxx command. To get more control on sound you must use speed 2 or 3, and sometimes even 1 (yes, that's 50 or 60 rows per second).
Switching between quarter notes and triplet notes can be a pain in tracking music.
The best way I found in other trackers is to keep the triplet notes playing in a pattern speed multiples of 3, where the triplets would be in the multiples of 4.
I don't have famitracker examples, but if you can edit/view S3M examples, check out what I did in an MM9 remake. (attached)
However, the Triangle notes seem to be out of line now. From what I perceive, when I change the speed in the Triangle, it affects the speed of the squares too.
You may want to check out that S3M example. It's going to globally affect row playback speeds when you change pattern speeds, so you have to know the actual placements of quarter notes and triplet notes inside BOTH speed playbacks.
You'll need some tracking practice before being able to figure that out, but again that S3M I posted can help you out (since the problem you have is pertaining to basic tracking ability)
SivakD had the same problems in his Mega Man 9 FTM, not being able to do triplets because he didn't know how to.
I am using Schism Tracker, however if you're not comfortable with that interface, Modplug Tracker should show you exactly what is going on there as well.
note delay is a very sensible way of creating triplets. if a whole song is swung then i figure it'd be more sensible to space notes in multiples of 3, but if you just want triplets here and there on individual channels, note delay is the way to go. the problem i've encountered with it though is that it isn't consistent at different song speeds. sometimes you have to change the values a bit. and i think they're only absolutely perfect triplets at tempo 150 / speed 6 and 3. correct me if i'm wrong. long story short it's a bit wonky so you have to experiment.
