FamiTracker
Hell yeah, jsr, this is looking better every day! People are making some amazing music with FamiTracker, and you seem to be giving a lot of attention to interface refinements now. That's what I was hoping for.
There are only a few aesthetic issues remaining for me, and I'll list them in order of importance (First is highest):
1) Can you make a STOP key in addition to PLAY/STOP? It should stop song/pattern/row playback, kill all sound, and return the cursor to where playback began. This is very frustrating for Impulse Tracker users, who simply spam F8 to stop and silence anything in the program.. :)
2) Can you allow remapping individual Step Size settings? There is already a remappable "increase/decrease" shortcut, but to remap each Ctrl-Numpad command individually would be very useful (I would use Alt1-Alt0, as in IT).
3) Can you make "move 1 single row up" and "move 1 single row down" keys, and make them shortcut mappable?
4) Can you make the "Repeat" and "Clear Field" commands advance the cursor by Step Size? Right now they don't move at all. If that is by design, please make it an option. ;)
There may be some others but these are the main ones for now ;) I'm excited to use FamiTracker for all my future NES music -- it has come so far!
Ah, and one more favor:
An effect that cuts a note off after x ticks.
Like SCx in Impulse Tracker.
Example: Song Speed 03
C-5 00 F K01 <---note only lasts 1/3 of a row
C-5 00 F K02 <---note only lasts 2/3 of a row
C-5 00 F K03 <---note lasts the whole row
C-5 00 F K04 <---no effect
This is especially useful in the triangle channel to fine-tune staccato passages!
Enter key is the same as PLAY, isn't it? The point of that request is for a *separate* STOP key, as an optional alternative to the single key shared by PLAY and STOP. Many people I have spoken to have mentioned this.
Hey virt, great to see you back! I know it's been forever since the last time (it's been really difficult to find free time, sorry) and I still haven't done the note release stuff [size=6]orz, but I do have plans for it (hopefully next release)! Just letting you know.
Anyway -
1) There will be a Stop command.
2) I can add an option to (or just) remap it to Alt instead of control. (Increase/decrease seems to be broken btw)
3) This is fixed to Alt+Up/Down (altough seems to fail to update the screen). I can make it remappable.
4) It seems the cursor fails to move down when using the "impulse tracker"-input mode. That should of course work and I'll fix it. (I've already discovered a number of bugs related to the new pattern code that needs to be fixed)
I can also add the note cut effect, I've had requests on that before and should be quick to add.
Oh and please let me know if you got more things you'd like to see changed! I'll post updates as soon as they are done.
