Hello, I hope to have a nice time at famitracker forums!

Here is my song, I chose to abstain from using the so-called "expansion chips" as I feel that they are inauthentic to the shared experience of NES in the western world (I will be sharing more about this in my vlog at a future date).

The song is influenced by David Attenborough's joy for all kinds of life on earth. Did you know that I met David Attenborough once?

I have used a sample from a DOS game called Jill Of The Jungle to add effect to my song.

I hope you like it!

EDITED

I experimented with the melody in this song a lil to see if I could make it wander around a cool way, until I realized 'hey, this is how Super Mario Land 1 level 1 starts' and now all I can think of is that song. XD

By the way, at some point you introduce a 2xx effect in the bass line - but you don't remove it (with 200) before the song loops. So when the song loops, it has 2xx playing for the entire song instead of just the ending. You'll get better at fixing mistakes like that the more you compose in the program - and sometimes a mistake like leaving an effect going too long will produce a cool new sound that you'll learn to harness (this happens to me all the time XD)

I'd suggest that you examine .ftms and .nsfs of other people's (or games) creations that you really like, figure out why they work they way they work and implement similar tricks in your own songs. By doing this over and over you'll be intimately familiar with more and more ways to do things and get way better

Then hello! Welcome to the FamiTracker forums! You are likely to have a nice time here. Most people here are kind, so you won't have any trouble with them. I hope you meet Patashu, he is a really nice guy who likes to add things to other people's FTMs[citation needed].

EDIT: He beat me to it. Now you know him. He is really nice.

It's okay if you feel it's cheating, but I recommend you experiment with those chips when you get better since they will incredibly boost your abilities and capabilities with the tracker.

Well, I don't know the song you are talking about, but doesn't matter that much. Interesting fact that you met him. However, if you feel you need to add something of your personal life to a post, you should better do so when you get more used to this place, since it will not be so important to some people(sorry if I sound rough, but although I'm good with english, I'm not good with being kind at times).
I have used a sample from a DOS game called Jill Of The Jungle to add effect to my song.
That is the DPCM sample I guess. I have to say it doesn't sound good. When I was listening to your NSF it was pretty good, until this sample stroke in and ruined the fun. You'd better work a lot more with effects and things like samples so you can make them sound better. If you are interested in using DPCM for percussion, I have a collection of samples which I can send you by e-mail if you want.
I hope you like it!
I liked it until that sample popped up. Try to fix that.

I hope you don't get hurt by some of the things I said, but I don't know how to express myself while writing.

Leaving that aside, I once again welcome you to the FamiTracker forums!

[By the way, we appreciate better that people post FTMs instead of NSFs. Attaching an NSF is fine, but do that if you post an FTM with it!]

Welcome to the forums! There are several people here that will help you get started.

Now about the song.

At first, the song sounds great.

Then you added the sample.

I don't mean to be rough, but that sample ruins the song. Also, It's a bit repetitive, and the bass is a bit too low and loud. Other than those minor problems, this sounds great. also, like Mr_Master said, we would appreciate the FTM as well. Though I'm PRETTY SURE it's up to you. Again, welcome to the forums!
