I've been trying to look up how I could get the VRC7 instruments in famitracker, but I can't find any downloads or good information. My famitracker only lets me make new 2A03 instruments. So how do I get the VRC7 instrument?
Ctrl+M to open module properties. Enable the VRC7 expansion. Then, move your cursor onto any FM Channel column. Now you can create an instrument. Be sure to first raise the Attack on the right side controls so you can at least hear a blank sine wave sound.
Also, just so you're aware, the VRC7 chip only allows one custom patch to be playing at a time due to its hardware limitations (which Famitracker respects). So if you start playing a new custom patch the old one will not be used anymore.
If you're interested in more powerful FM synthesis instruments, another tracker called Deflemask emulates the soundchip of the Genesis among others.
Okay, now I'm having another problem. When I ether select a patch or try to create a custom patch. I get nothing, no sound, and the keyboard thing doesn't even work ether. I know you're supposed to raise the carrier attack in the custom patch if there wasn't any sound but that didn't work ether. In fact, none of the other instruments seem to be working besides the 2A03. What's going on here?

You need to have a VRC7 channel selected on the note column or Famitracker doesn't know what channel you're trying to play on. (It doesn't make an assumption because many chips have different kinds of channels, like 2A03 has pulse and noise and VRC6 has pulse and saw, and because if sounds are already playing on the channels it's meaningful to know which channel you'll be playing on and thus overriding the sound in) (And it has to be on the note column because if it's not and you're using the keyboard for input, does a 2 mean C# or input the number 2?)
