I'm but a wee boy of 17. I don't know how to read sheet music, but I know how to use Famitracker. I guess that says something about jsr's accomplishments.
I admit, I am a young King at the age of 14 and almost to 15. I play some piano, drums, and starting to learn the bass, but, I prefer making songs on Famitracker. I wish to get better.
Why wasn't I as young as some of you are when I discovered this amazing tracker? WHY!?
Well, I think we all wish to get better, and that's made by practice, but I bet you do that a lot, isn't it Glitch_King? I also prefer to make music in FT since I feel more powerful while making music in a computer. Real instruments are a lot of fun too, but I don't get the same feeling when I want to compose something on them.
If I had practiced during last year, going from uhhhh... April or May to September?, I bet I would be better, but most of the things I have learned have come from people on this forum. Of course I have developed my own sound, but I still have to learn a lot more things before I can say I am really good. If you have seen my threads, you will understand better.
Isn't there anyone who's younger than me on the forums? :o
I'm actually 12... but I discovered this a few years back.
But yes, thank you jsr for making this absolutely fantastic program. This, I have to say, is one of the most influential, if not THE most influential trackers in the chiptune scene. So, to jsr and all the people who contributed to Famitracker:

Wow, this thread turned into a an age thread, huh? I'm pleasantly surprised at the number of young musicians around here, especially since it seems rare these days to find the younger populace having an appreciation for the sounds of chiptunes. Good on you all!
And in case anyone cares, I'm 23. Not too young, but not too old either(I hope)!
jsr you're the best and your program is pretty much the only reason I know anything about music (which isn't too much yet, but it's growing over time).
Also, 18, and I'm surprised at how low the average age here is (middle schoolers, and Ares64 being 16?) Then again I first found out about this program in 10th grade.
Which gets me thinking... Why are people in this age group (13-20ish) so drawn to the sounds of the Fami-NES, SMS, SNES, and Gameboy? We weren't around when these systems were in their heyday (except for maybe the GB Color). They hardly evoke any feeling of nostalgia (unless like me your parents were cheap [or really smart] and you actually got the opportunity to grow up with the NES and GB. This has been a question I've asked myself a number of times. Why do I LOVE the sounds of these machines so much?

Thank you JSR, for allowing me to constantly interact with the calming, sexy, haunting, hypnotising, tantalizing sounds of the very chip I, unlike many of my age, had the amazing opportunity of growing up with. I don't know why I do... but I love it, and for that I thank you.
