I know this would either; start a fight, get bashed, or ignored.

Anyway, I would like the stereo effect included in Famitracker for a more... stereo experience. Kind of like the stereo effect in DefleMask, but more like the stereo effect in Milkytracker and the other .xm and .it trackers.

1: The effect in Famitracker would be 9xy

x = panning to the left

y = panning to the right

Example: C-3 00 - 909
--- -- - 900
--- -- - 9F0
--- -- - 900

Explanation: Slides note panning right/left at speed x/y depending on which parameter is specified. Effect is applied per tick so song speed acts as a multiplier.

Notes: Parameters x and y should NOT be used at the same time, doing so almost guarantees unpredictable results across different players

2: Can be used for all channels

3: using Stereo effect will converted into mono in the NSF and NES export except mp3 or wav output

4: You will able to enable the Stereo effect through the options or through the module options, which is the only way to activate it

Inb4 "It's already been established... no"

It would be absolutely amazing to have a stereo effect.

No.

Stereo sound is too hyped up anyway.

I don't care about stereo effects in the pattern, since that's entirely outside the format, but I do think a stereo pan setting on each channel would be useful during composing to help your ears sort out what's going on.

As long as channel pan doesn't get saved along with modules, I wouldn't object to that. :P

I don't see why a stereo option, whether stereo pan or as an effect, would hinder any of the exports, or why it shouldn't be saved with the module. As far as .nsf export, the exporter could just ignore whatever effect it is altogether, making a regular old mono .nsf. And as far as saving with the module, I don't see why that'd be a huge problem either. Just include an option under sound settings of whether or not to ignore stereo sound, or something like that.

I know you can edit nsfs through different programs but them I thought of using it while making a famitracker song. That's where I got the idea from for the stereo pan, to be pacific, effect. The stereo pan effect isn't a must have, but, I think it would be a cool little feature to enhance some already awesome songs. Well, thanks for some info.

It could be useful, but even the modded consoles that include a stereo feature are simply built on the basis of picking up the signals from the APU1 and APU2 pins on the 2A03 before they reach the mixer, so an "any channel panned separately" mod would be impossible.

I think this all falls under the category of post-production and needn't be part of the tracker. If you were going to add reverb to a channel then you'll just have to imagine it's there while composing and then apply the effect to the exported wave. Planning for stereo to a chip mp3/wave should be no different.
FT is there to facilitate the creation of nsf music. Anything beyond that should be handled in outside post-production programs.

Famitracker needs a dashboard with low pass, high pass and cross fade knobs that I can automate or tweak in real time so I can DJ with my sick chiptunes

Also, it needs two more noise channels

The only way I would care to see this is if FamiTracker did a cheap hardpan setting in the Settings menu, one that set pulse 1 and 2 as left and right, since people hack their NES and Famicoms to use this capability anyway. Some plugins even do this; such as NotSoFatso.

I don't see the reason for adding stuff that can't be exported or played on the original hardware. That's beyond the scope of this tracker.

It IS actully possible. You remember good old times Super Mario Land? (3DS Emulation and earlier using headphones with GameBoy) if you used Headphones with it then you heared stereo right? It IS possible. If you dont have it use your 3DS or buy an old Gameboy with SML.
Maybe the Stereo pan setting for each Instrument would be useful.
