I'm relatively new in the famitracking community, I've been doing it for a few months now, still getting used to the program and using effects and such, and I'm having a blast. I just wanted to know if I could get some type of constructive criticism or something like that on this song that I tried to make sort of megaman-sounding. I've seen some of the other things on these forums that really make my jaw drop at how amazing they are, and I want to be a part of it eventually. I'm aware of the weird pitch changes/advancement in between some phrases or half-phrases, it's something I'm willing to live with at the moment as a reminder to stop digging myself my own grave with repeating things and having a hard time moving on to something else. Please give me your opinions!

I like it. I think that the Triangle channel is a bit underpowered. It's hard for me to hear some of the notes at times, which made me think you wrote it in triplets or something at first.
I think this song could stand a bit of a shake-up, especially with the percussion. Some fills or something instead of playing the same frame repeatedly.
I know what you mean with the grave-digging "repeating things" deal. It's good that you recognize it and you're willing to progress instead of dwelling. Keep moving forward, Vectorman.
Glad you're having fun with FamiTracker! I think you did a good job getting a "megaman" sound though like Giggs said, the song could definitely use some variation. It tends to drone on since the triangle and noise channels have repetitive patterns throughout the whole song.
There also tend to be a few parts where the two pulse channels seem to be clashing or at least are pretty dissonant. I would try messing around with slight pitch offsets or the pulse duty settings to help remedy this.
Keep working on it man, you obviously have musical talent, it's just getting used to the program and even then there's always more to learn.
i think you've got a pretty well written melody here. the only problem i've really got with the song is the fact that the triangle channel and first square channel repeat themselves for most of the song...
there isn't anything necessarily wrong with that, it's common for this style of song (ie: a stage theme of some sort), but....usually they're a little less active, not so in your face. after the second frame, or the "introduction", i probably would've written new riffs for those channels and *then* stuck with those.
i think with a bit of practice and studying other peoples music (especially professional composers, not just within the community here...), you can get a feel for it. coming up with backing tracks and rhythm pieces is easy, there's lot of little simple rules / tricks you can use to write something compelling. the melody tends to be what newer composers get stuck with, and you've written a pretty good one here - so don't get discouraged!
It's a really catchy song, I think you should use different duty cycles more often, just to keep the melody interesting, also try and work on making the song flow, and making it smooth by adding in some volume swells and pitch bends. Keep up the good work, I can't wait to hear more from you! :D

It is repetitive and has some volume problems, but overall is good, and greatly better than my attachment, Megaloop Epicfail, which I made thinking of a Megaman themed song a few weeks ago.
Thanks for all of the positive feedback! I'll try to take these things into account the next time I make something like this. Hearing (reading?) all of these things really means a lot to me. Really.
