hello all,

i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to combine multiple nsfs/ftms into one nsf.

i had been lurking the nesdev forums and came across a program called CombiNSF which can combine multiple songs into one nsf file, but it didnt support expansion audio, and its developer stopped working on it.

has anyone else heard of it/used it? id really like to find a way to combine all my songs into a "playlist" of sorts for live shows.

thanks

Combining FTMs is relatively easy (provided the total of instruments doesn't exceed 64). Just go into Module Properties (Ctrl+P) and click "Import file".

Combining NSFs is, on the other hand, fairly complicated, and I think short of importing each NSF into Famitracker using the NSF Importer, or using this CombiNSF tool you found, there aren't really any other alternatives.

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3633]request a hardware render.

i see. although the import file option is good, i run out of instruments fairly quick, and i would also want to combine different expansions together.

You might consider using PPMCK for making nsfs. It can compile multi-track nsfs which use all expansions (simultaneously), and it uses sequences rather than instruments, so the limit on those is higher. Though if you have many sequences for each expansion, you will probably still run out eventually.

It is also possible to combine multiple songs and compile the NSF manually, but it requires some assembly programming. Instructions are available in the NSF source package.

Different expansions in the same file would be a lot more complicated to do however.

so i took a crack at using rainwarriors NSFimport to combine my ftms into one nsf.

i was able to get them all into one ftm file and export to nsf, however it will now not play back on the powerpak. attached is my nsf and ftm files, im not sure why?

anyone care to wager a guess? id really appreciate it thanks!

The powerpak can't play NSFs larger than about 252kb.

Truth be told, I only tested moon8 when it came out a few months ago. It might just be my memory playing tricks on me. I do know for a fact the moon8 ROM works, but perhaps the NSF didn't.
