i got bored and wondered what silver surfer would sound like on a SID
now, me knowing nothing about the SID, i just copypasted NSFimported songs from this game and whupped them on the VRC6 chip and added a bunch of duty cycles
because thats how SID music works am i right ha ha ha ha ha
anyway tell me what you think (it probably sounds worse now hahaha sorry)
GYUH! Curse you beta bastards! Why does everyone insist on using the least stable version of FamiTracker they can get their hands on?? Such an inconvenience.
ANYWHO, generally speaking, sawtooth is a poor choice for drums, though I see what you did there. A SID has 3 sound channels which can produce a variety of waveforms: pulse, triangle, sawtooth, and noise (which means using triangles instead of saws for drums is totally legit).
Four simultaneous channels is a SID impossibility, so every time you use the noise channel, you should mute something else.
None of this matters of course... I'm just saying - if you were really wondering what it would sound like, those are the limits .
Despite my apparent negativity, this sounds pretty cool. Carry on, sir.

This is a cool experiment but it doesn't really qualify as "your work".

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to request a hardware render.
I didn't like this at all. It looks like you just copy-pasted the square channels, then replaced the duty cycles with something sounding C64-ish. The sound was perfectly fine originally before C64-ifying it.
