How do you calculate the average BPM of 2 alternating tempos? I want to make a list of all the possible tempo combinations from highest to lowest, but the only way I can find the BPM is to let it play for a minute and count the beats.

60 / 150 = 0.4

average note length is 0.45

60 / 0.45 = 133.33 bpm

I would always divide 900 by the bpm I wanted, so for instance 138bpm would be 900/138=6.52 and you'd toggle between 6 and 7 to be p. damn close.

Keep in mind that you can also do intervals of three, so if you want 142bpm you'd do 7,6,6,7,6,6,7... since 900/142=6.338

Oooh nice, it didn't occur to me to use frames as a numerator. Actually, if you know how many frames per quarter note, this formula will work:

3600 / frames per quarter note = tempo

Also, 3606 (or 901.5) is slightly closer to true NES framerate.
