I think you'd be shooting yourself in the foot. This will only spawn more complaints and lead to people creating forks of the program and then reporting bugs and issues for unsupported builds of Famitracker, thus increasing your troubles...
I think it's time to accept the fact that people don't necessarily want to put themselves through the misery of enduring the original hardware's flaw in order to compose their music. There's no reason to do so, anyway; as long as you know it'll sound terrible on a real N163, I think that's enough. Plus, you've done a great job putting loads of emphasis on the fact the real N163 sounds terrible in the manual, wiki and forum posts already - I think everyone has understood that at this stage.
if there are PC alternatives that allow you to listen to the completed project hiss-free, and if the hiss will get filtered out by most RF connections between the nes/tv anyways, i don't see why people shouldn't have the option to disable it on what seems to be the only way to listen to it "authentically"
with that out of the way - i really enjoyed this cover. i would love to hear more of the soundtrack from you!
