I just got back to my computer after about a month and decided to fire up famitracker. However, when I created a new instrument and hit the keys, no sound came out. I was a bit confused, as no error messages popped up and the sound graph still registered as thought the notes were making audible sound.
My question is whether or not this has happened to anyone else and if so, how can it be fixed.
P.S. I'm using the most recent version of famitracker (v0.4.1) on Windows 7
Did you open the instrument and set volume parameters?

No, I've definitely tried it in the Pulse 1 channel each time. It's weird, because I can see the sine curve as though sound is coming out of it but I can't hear anything, and no, songs loaded in don't make any sound either.
When I have problems with FamiTracker putting out sound, it will display a message that says "It appears the current sound settings aren't working, change settings and try again!" in the status bar at the very bottom of the window just below the horizontal scroll bar. It doesn't pop-up any dialogue boxes.
If you're getting readings on the oscilloscope and no error messages, it's likely driver-related as Doxic mentioned.
Or maybe it's something simple - check your Windows sound mixer and make sure you didn't mute FamiTracker (I've done such things before for strange arbitrary reasons I can't remember).

I don't think the problem is in the tracker if you can see audio in the sample graph window.
Did you check the windows volume mixer? It's possible to set the volume per application in windows 7.
Thanks all for your help, I was able to fix it. Turns out, as Doxic and Necrophageon mentioned, it was a case of un-updated soundcard drivers. Thanks again!!
