Greetings, all

I've been making music for about a year now, and I just got Famitracker about two months ago, I love it.

But let me get to the point. I like taking on unorthodox challenges, which is why I've decided to attempt to re-create the Super Metroid soundtrack via Famitracker.

It's still a WIP, as I only have three songs done thus far, Intro/Title, Tension, and Boss music 2. I do plan to update it as I go

Tell me what you think!

Sounds pretty good so far!
Keep up the work, and keep us up to date, please.

It sounds kind of clunky and blotchy. Still good thought. DPCM samples would be nice.

Thank you for the comments :D

I've actually found that the NSF doesn't sound as good as the FTM for whatever reason. Like I said, I plan on finishing and polishing this up sometime in the future. I actually used a DPCM sample in the boss track, only a kick drum that's barely audible amongst the sea of squarewaves.

All things considered, this is such a minimalist soundtrack (save for the boss tracks and a few others) that using only square, triangle and sawtooth waves makes it difficult to get the unique ambient quality of most of the tracks. Irregardless that's why I'm doing it, the fun is trying to replicate those sounds to the best of the programs abilities.:P

Coolidge!

These are good VRC6 replicas of the real SNES soundtrack! Go you.

Maybe the chunkiness has something to do with instruments, though I think the instruments are just fine, imo.

You mentioned that the NSF is sub-par to the FTM file. The NSF was my favorite because the Noise Channel seemed of a lower volume, thus giving it more of a breathy feel than the FTM. That's my take on it, anyway. (^-^ )7"

Yeah. I DID noticed the kick drums on DPCM were drowned out a little. Did you import these at a low volume, or are these from the sample pack that's floating around these forums? I would personally try something a bit louder or lower the instrument volumes, or both...

- Awesome. It's near perfect, all the notes, the sync between instruments... and the VRC6 gives a boost. Can't wait for you next update, thanks a lot! ^_^;;
