I'm running FamiTracker on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit, 8GB DDR RAM, 4.1GHz x4 CPU, and a 1GB GDDR GPU @ 690MHz.
I can grab the FamiTracker window itself and move it around as fast as I want any which way and there is no audio stutter or lag. However, if I resize or minimize *any* window while FamiTracker is running then FamiTracker's audio stutters. I have the default Aero settings and it may be related to Aero's more GPU intensive processes that it does and FamiTracker trying to sync with its tracker display.
Please look into this. Otherwise, is there anything else I can be of assistance with?

I have almost the same configuration but I can minimize windows without problems, maybe a larger sound buffer solves it?
One suggestion if you want to play a module in the background is to minimize the tracker window, as that will disable the graphical updates and should make it less sensitive to other applications.
On a 3.3Ghz Tri-Core, 8GB of RAM, GeForce GT 520 and the same OS, I don't have the minimize problem either. For reference my buffer length is set to 40ms.
Perhaps you can try disabling the Windows minimize animations. Right-click 'Computer' in the Start menu, and hit 'Properties'. Click 'Advanced system settings' in the left pane. Under where it says 'Performance' in the next dialog that opens, click 'Settings'. Find 'Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing' in the scroll box and uncheck it. Click OK and see if that solves your problem.
Figured out my problem. I had to uninstall and reinstall AMD Catalyst software. Aero was not properly functioning. Now that Aero is properly enabled, I do not have the issue anymore.
Add that to another issue solved and added to the database to help others.
Edit: It appears that it's related to AMD's overclocking profile. If my CPU is overclocked within the AMD VISION Engine, then Aero crashes. I've even applied the Microsoft hotfix for AMD FX chips that better utilizes multi-core processors.
Hrm... Not entirely related to FamiTracker, but I'm still interested in trying to find out how to overclock my CPU and have Aero continue to work.
