what the 0xy effect does is it cycles an arpeggio (duh)

it plays note 0 (the note you put the command on), then whatever note is x semitones above 0 (so, if 0 was C and x was 4, x would be E), and the same for y.

if either x or y is 0, it will just play the root note (i.e. the one you've put the effect on)

it'll still cycle through two notes if you put, for example, "0c0", but (again, using C), it'll play C-3, C-4, C-3, C-3, C-4, C-3, etc.

so it's kinda different than just going into the instrument macro and putting | 0 12

gosh i suck at explaining stuff like this

New idea: Test things before making posts about how you think they work

This is really more of an SMB3 underground theme. The original SMB is in a 3/4, not 4/4 metre. It could be fun to recast the SMB3 underground in a 3/4 metre though...

I'm still confused as to why you refuse to use 0.4.1 on the sole basis that it's not backwards-compatible.

It sounded more to me like he was refusing to use it because 0.3.x versions aren't forwards-compatible... which makes my brain hurt to think about.
