I know this shit is pretty old, but I figured you guys might want to have some fun picking it apart or telling me how awful or untalented I am to make yourselves feel jazzier inside.

All I hope is I bring a warm, fuzzy demon smile into your heart. <3

I am actually freaked out. Like, what?
Hm. This is fascinating because it would probably sound grating or very intriguing to the ears of an audiophile. I am not, so I'm just going to stare at my screen and figure out whether I liked it or not. Thank you?

I can't even imagine setting out to write something like this, much less pulling it off...

If don't mind my asking, what are some of your major influences?

Tricky question, lemme try to think of a few influences:

Beatles, Pink Floyd, Elliott Smith, Aphex Twin, Deerhoof, Raymond Scott, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Rentals, Slayer, Ninjatune Label, Chico Buarque, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Leadbelly, etc...

I guess I go with a concept I want to prove first, then if it turns into a song it does.

Jeff Buckley <3

This is a pretty well-rounded list. There are a few I'm not familiar with that I feel like I should probably be checking out.

I think I get what you mean though... sometimes playing with new concepts/ideas (there's more than a few here I want to steal and play around with :P) lead to unexpected moments of inspiration. Those are always the best.

Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Interesting, at first I was not sure if it was a troll song or nott, but I really like the idea of the 60Hz Square bass you did with Zxx commands. If only we had a Zxx envelope for the DPCM channel...

He's talking about instrument envelopes, not channel commands; to which I agree whole-heartedly.
