Hello!

I am new to using FamiTracker. I have learned how to do most things with the tracker by reading help online and using my head. However, I am struggling with understanding how the instrument editor works. The tutorial I have seen referenced here is outdated and the help file that comes with FamiTracker does not seem to work for me (maybe a Windows Vista or IE7 thing?)

How do I assign an instrument to a certain track/channel? It seems that whatever I do, it plays all channels as the last selected instrument. I am probably approaching it the wrong way, but I currently have no guidance to steer me in the right direction.

Thank you for having patience with me. I am a new user of FamiTracker, but I have done my best to help myself so far.

Every channel has four columns: note, instrument number for this note (and for all below notes, if they has no instrument number), volume, effect. So you must specify instrument numbers in second column. Actually, editor does this automatically. Every time you input new note, it adds current instrument number (you can select current instrument in the box with instrument names in top-right part of the main window).

Thank you very much for your reply. Your explanation is very clear and I now understand how to assign instruments correctly. Thanks again!
