Hey, sorry if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find anything with a quick search-- I'm curious what the parameters are for this effect and how they affect the playback of a sample.

Since I had only briefly tried it before I had formed the impression that it's a way to start a sample somewhere other than its beginning, and the XX values were the starting coordinates.

But finally with some more tinkering I noticed that certain values will have a sample start over multiple times without playing the whole thing once it restarts, like a sort of retrigger effect. Others can create a very distorted and "glitched out" sound that will trail the end of the sample...

With low pitched looped samples, it can also affect the pitch. I noticed that the bass sample from The Immortal ($FF00) can be changed from a C (at pitches 0, 7, 12, + 15), to a B, by using Y01 or any greater value. This is a pretty sweet, not sure if it's common knowledge, but it allows you to cover a lot more notes if you only have a starting sample set to C...

Some insight as to the inner-workings of this effect would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If you specify XX larger than sample size/64, you'll get undefined behaviour, probably.

Thanks guys! Yeah I found out the hard way that the funky re-pitching I was trying to use didn't sound the same once I exported to nsf.

You might have gone over the delta counter? it is weird with shorter samples. I usually only use it for samples that are one second in length. Would you be able to upload said .dcm sample so we can try it our self :D
