Hello everyone, This is my first post on the forum, but I've been playing around with Famitracker for a few months now. I made one of my own songs for my IB Music class, but I also enjoy testing my skills and covering Megaman songs :p. Here's some of the ones that I'm more proud of, the staff roll from Megaman II, Dr. Wily Stage I and others. Thanks for listening.
At least on my machine, the NSF files were transposed a few keys up. So I'll post the ftm files here, along with a few more that I completed a few days ago. Please let me know what you think of them, thanks.
I checked these out and some of these have a pretty great start! Good job. I'm not sure what sort of tools you had handy to make these, but if you wanted to improve the accuracy further, I'd recommend using [url=http://www.pokipoki.org/dsa/index.php?NSFplay]nsfplay to help you analyze the originals. It comes complete with a piano view, but more importantly, shows you all of the dynamics and duty cycles involved.
This, of course, doesn't remove the effort in trying to replicate instruments. When you see a bunch of numbers jumping down for the volume, it might not be obvious how many 60ths of a second it spends on each volume. But it certainly sends you off in the right direction...
If you don't mind I'd like to try and improve some of these.
Thanks for the replies. As for the tools I use...my ears. Lol, basically I just listen to OSTs and attempt to replicate it the best I can. And please, go right ahead in improving them.
Edit: The Wily Part II from MM3 sounds incredible. Very nice work.

I hope you don't mind what I did here, but I was listening to your cover of the first Wily stage from Mega Man II and there were a few things that didn't sound quite right in it, so I edited your FTM a bit. There were some notes that went on too long, and some of the duties were off in a couple of areas; it sounds more accurate in this file.
Like I said, feel free to modify it in any way. I didn't really add all the finishing touches to every song, and some parts might be off since I did do these by ear.

Ahh — well, besides what I mentioned in my previous post, and one (I think maybe two, actually) spots with what sounded like a note missing, and one section of notes missing the vibrato that the original had, your cover sounds pretty much spot-on, as far as the notes go.
If one of you wanted to take a crack at the section of the Megaman III intro I have up, right before the section with the drums, some of the rhythms don't match the original very well at all. You're all about ten times better at this than I am, so I figured you could probably do an awesome job.
I'm really proud of this new one. It's my pleasure to present Megaman 9 Wily Stage 1 - Flash in the Dark. A few mistakes here and there, mostly in the triangle, but other than that I really like it.
Nice covers by all. I know making mega man covers can be challenging, especially trying to get them accurate as possible. I have trouble with the vibrato in most of my covers. Anyone interested in making covers or wanting to emulate the styles used to make mega man sounding tunes should get the file by TSSF. His post is under the famitracker talk forum section. He did a great job compiling some example ftm's and included a text file. This has helped me and now I can crank out pretty accurate mega man covers in no time. Take a look specifically at the way the instruments are all set up, that is the key to having the covers sound accurate. I have posted a couple covers for the wiki but I will include two here that I have made since to help everyone out who is interested.
