Thanks guys, esp necro.

The M&H version sounds like it's going to be "Pump up the Volume" or something, the Muppets version is hilarious, and the original is very atnmospheric, before the staccato "popcorn" idea was introduced.

I now have some serious issues though, I had already thought of using the v command to create the filter effect, but it sounded like it was hardly doing anything. So, I copy and pasted necro's commands in and I realise I have a problem - my effects channels aren't working in VRC6! More than this, I'm trying to load up one or two of my old famitracker files and they won't load, it says "please check you have the latest version". Am I bugged? Can anyone help? Should I repost this in the bug reports?

Thanks, man; it took me a while to remember that post.

And Naff_Natty: What version of the tracker are you using?

v037 - I've forgotten, is that the unstable version? It has been working fine thus far. I don't know what could have changed.

It could be the fact that you've opened a file made in an older version of the tracker, or maybe just an issue with your selecting instruments?

We're also at v0.3.8 beta 5 right now.

I don't get it, I think I downloaded a couple of versions, but when you open an ft file it installs itself right, thereby opening up whatever version it's working with? Plus, that doesn't explain why my effects aren't working for the files that do open up.

FT is a portable application. You need to change file association for the FTM format whenever you download a new version, or else Windows will keep opening FTMs with the old version (or look for it of you deleted it).

Does not apply if you replace the actual executable file with the new one (which is not recommended, especially if you downloaded a beta).

Funny, for me, when I double-click an FTM, my computer opens it in the last version of FamiTracker that I used, be it 0.3.7 or 0.3.8b or what have you.

So, I'm a bit confused! What do I need to do?

EDIT: I've got the versions 3.8 beta, and the 3.7 pack with all the expansion chips. I know one of the files I couldn't open for sure uses 3.8 beta, I've just sought out that version and successfully opened the file through that - it doesn't solve my effects channel problem though...
