Hello, I just started with Famitracker and am trying to understand how the noise pitches work (in the tracking window vs. in the instrument window)...
With global speed at 1 I made a nice hihat sound with noise:
A-# 0
A-# 6
E-# 2
B-# 2
B-# 1
B-# 0
Now that I understand that global speed 1 is not very convenient I want to turn this into an "instrument". I set the volume sequence but the pitch sequence I am confused how to do. It's like no logical combination I can think of works.
I could just keep it simple and use 1 pitch, but I want to learn how stuff works (and I want my awesome hihat!)
Basically, 0-# = 0 in the instrument pitch macro. So your sequence would look like this:
10 10 14 11 11 11
assuming you played a 0-# in the tracker.

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3633]request a hardware render.
i get how the noise pitches work now. i played around with the sequence and i learned that the pitch changes are cumulative.
the sequence equivalent to my rows is
10 0 0 4 -3 0 0
as a side note, 10 0 0 1 3 0 0 sounds alot better.

Yeah, in the pitch macro it's relative but in the arp macro it's absolute (I didn't know this until just now actually).
