Just out of curiosity, will each individual song be voted on, or each .ftm as a whole? Cause if it's the .ftm as a whole... Well, I may have shot myself in the foot a bit with that last song...
Personally, I wouldn't mind voting on each individual song.
It basically means you COULD remix an NES soundtrack that isn't Akumajou Densetsu, Castlevania 3, Madara or Esper Dream 2, but I'd rather you didn't.
I should have worded my question differently, sorry! I was basically wondering why it's frowned upon? I just don't see any reason why it should.
Because you can just NSF import it, sprinkle it with a bit of VRC6 and there you go. But covering a song you heard on the radio, or from a console other than the NES to me, has more merit in it.
Fezuke's answer makes sense but it's not the reason I had in mind, which is simply that if any user wants to hear an NES soundtrack, they can already do it by playing or importing the NSF themselves. It's fine to make this kind of remix normally and I'm all for it, but this is a different context where you want to make something new for the user to explore (after all the ultimate goal is to make a demo module for FamiTracker, and this should always be kept in mind when entering one of these competitions).
I'm looking at this via Ipod and it can't download anything. I have no access to a computer and won't anytime soon. Would I be able to join? If so, how many entries can I enter? I have heard that ipods can open txt files but mine is unable to do that for some reason o.o

You can still join, yeah. Deadline is July 21, 23h59 EDT. You can enter one FTM with up to 3 covers in it. You should probably read the text file for more details, so I suggest you find access to a computer soon.
Just got access. Thanks. I'll be busy tonight; I haven't held anything back, but I might have to use a work I already did, despite it being discouraged. I haven't felt the need to remake stuff lately...

Okay, so there's 2 days left to submit, so I'm just posting this to remind people who haven't turned in their entries yet to do so as soon as possible. I haven't received that many considering the people who said they were entering (though as usual I suppose many will submit at the very last minute).
My entry didn't exactly turn out as I had planned, but I had so much fun making it! There's a few parts that really bugged me, but I couldn't make it better so... oh well!
Also come voting, I shall deduct points from anyone who was unimaginative and used the sawtooth as a bass.
