However, I am assuming you just like the sound of the NES' 2a03 better than the Gameboy's sound chip, am I right? I don't blame you there. The Gameboy's sound chip just doesn't compare to the 2a03 as far as memories are concerned...

The VRC6 chip is just another sound chip added to the Famicom's main sound hardware (2a03) via cardtridge, giving the musician three more sound channels.

The NES, sadly, doesn't have the capability to let sound chips like this work for it, otherwise Castlevania III would be awesome to own!

To get a good example of this, download the NSF file for Akumajou Densetsu (which is Castlevania III in Japan) and play it in either FCEUX (emulator) or a decent NSF player like Notso Fatso for WinAMP.

Anyway, when you open FamiTracker and go into Module Properties in the Module menu, there should be a pull down menu for Expansion chips. The VRC6 should be the other option in the pull down menu. Then you shall have your three VRC6 sound channels. This is provided you have the latest update, which is 2.9 of course.
