..so I'll put it here and if it gets moved, it gets moved.

Anyway, I was wondering if Mash-ups/remixes of other peoples songs are allowed, because I wanna do one, but I don't want to do it and not be able to post it up here.

As long as proper credit is given, you should have no problems.

Also, it was FamiTracker Talk you were looking for.

For remixes you must ask the original composer's permission before you can post it.
I had a thread locked before, even though I gave full credit as I had not obtained permission for the post.

There's a rule against posting other people's work with or without permission (i.e. if they made it, they and only they should get the privilege of sharing it). Remixes are fine though.

Oh for crying out loud, a remix is remixing a track, i.e. applying compression to a snare track so it sounds fatter and EQing some stuff. That's a remix. A rearrangement, which is what you are talking about, is not a remix and never will be.

Rant aside, as long as credit is given, like everyone has said already, it should be fine.

I posted a modified gerudo song and it got deleted because it was based on a nsf import or the composer did not know i would modify it in the future. I want to to post modified covers to sound new without the FTM being deleted because the composer didn't know i am going to change it into something new. For example if i take a nsf song from a romhack that has custom unique music never heard in any other nesgame. Then modifying it with famitracker and uploading it to the
famitracker forum is forbidden?

I feel that it is fine, as long as you make sure that you are clear on the specifics. For example, stating:

1. This song was originally written by _____.
2. This is a cover, or a new take on the song, by me: ______.

The biggest concern is that people don't try to take credit for other people's work.

Normal copyright applies here. If you didn't make the song, ask for permission before uploading it and always give proper credits.

Jandazekon: Imported songs are forbidden unless you have permission from the original author. I also don't think imported and edited songs is a good idea to post, you should make your own cover instead if you want to share it.

Where do i post FTM songs without permission copyright problems? If i make a song. It will be based on other peoples songs including ripped DPCM samples. I will use it as a template for new songs.

I never seen you post anything original. Only 'Modified' or 'Butchered' tracks written by other people.

You don't post them at all if you want to avoid copyright problems. The point of being able to import songs is to study how certain sounds or techniques was made, not to edit entire songs.
