fluidvolt - excellent song! I voted you 1st place.
I thought Necrophazeon's song was good, but could have used some more variation, it just got boring to me after a while. But now I'm thinking maybe your chord choice was limited because of DPCM space? (Love the DPCM by the way).

Nope. I actually managed to get more range out of the samples than I had hoped was possible. The problem is just my songwriting. XD
Generally speaking, if it doesn't come right off the top of my head, it's usually garbage. When the ideas stop flowing - so does the song. :P I didn't want to fill it with anything uninspired or half-baked just to fluff it out.
You're right though - it could definitely stand to be lengthened... in fact I might do that at some point if the mood hits me.

Actually, it tends to be a bigger problem than it sounds like. :P I've got two unfinished songs just laying around that have been stuck at around 4 - 5 minutes for MONTHS. Waiting around for my wayward muse is no fun at all.

Well, I imagine that you need to finish something in one sitting, or at least get most of the ideas down quickly if you strictly rely on what's in your head at the time. Those older songs may just need to be dropped if it's been this long and you're no longer in that frame of mind.
It's great to hear you flat out say it cos this is the place I've finally settled down at and have been working for years to find. No amount of songwriting trickery or theory application will ever trump the moods, personality, intuition, taste and experience manifesting themselves inside your head as a unique musical language. Lately I've been recording myself singing the ideas as they come so I don't lose them and transcribe it all later. And this is the method I choose to accept after years of being a super analytical theory nut.
As far as making more varied or 'impressive' sounding things, you just gotta start listening to more varied and complex music maybe. No need to wait for your muse when you flood your head with new musical possibilities and ideas. I think that you rely strictly on your own inner voice puts you a lot higher up than you may think.
Nice top entries! I'm glad people dug my track, I was trying some new things. I also really enjoyed Fezuke's track, just didn't like that triangle lead section too much.
And I totally agree with gyms' advice, I think the best muse is to just listen to as much music as possible, in as many styles as possible.
It would be great with a NSF package of these compos. Then I would be able to dowload it and play the entrys on my Android phone using Droidsound... I know I can do it myself...
