Yes it's finally done. I called this version 0.2.9 to avoid confusion with all WIPs floating around. I'll also try to have shorter release cycles from now on.
This thread is for discussion about this release (bugs, problems...)
So happy I didn't see this one until now, or I wouldn't have done all the nyttiga things I've been doing these last few days.
I'll post comments asap.
EDIT: Ok, the Saw channel behaves strangely, but I guess it's supposed to and that I'll get used to it (the pulse width affects volume in a strange way). Also, when playing low notes on pulse width 0 you can very clearly hear a note playing 21 or 33 semi-tones above it, which is pretty annoying.
Also, is there a particular reason why the ¨ and - keys are not used for live input? Not that this is different from any previous version, but Analog X's virtual piano uses them...
- The VRC6 channels are (considerably) quieter in FamiTracker playback than they are in exported NSFs (using NSFPlug) - at least this appears to be the case with the square channels, haven't tried the saw channel.
- When entering or changing a value on any volume column, the change doesn't appear until you click off of it. Is this a bug or a feature?
Hmm... the program freezes alot when using this latest version. Never had a problem with it in the previous one. Does someone else have a problem with this?
Spiffe: I haven't heard that happening before. Do you do anything special when it happens? Start by trying to change the sound settings (especially the buffer size). What OS are you using?
Kreese: I changed that to make it more like other trackers. Only difference between edit mode and normal mode should be the possibility to insert notes. I forgot to mention it in the news list (along with a couple of other things).
Dave: Different NSF players have different volume levels. I still have to figure out the real volume level from a VRC6 cart.
The volume column behavior must be a bug as it doesn't appear for me. But I'm rewriting the pattern editor from scratch now so hopefully things like that will go away.
Awesome program. I used to use Impulse Tracker, so it was easy to pick up. I just got 2.9 and I'm thankful for the wav output. Thanks alot!
I remember being able to push the Enter button after clicking on a pattern in the sequencer with my mouse to play the sequence in 2.7. I kind of miss that.

Yeah, I find this extremely annoying. It happens with the effects column, too.
Good stuff. Thanks jsr! Nice to see you fixed the note delay bug.

MIDI import only works with the first song. Also, the instrument created when importing a midi file (00) lacks the "preset" button in the instrument editor and also appears to be completely silent no matter what values it is given.
