I've been interested in editing NSFs to see what some tunes would sound like with different drum styles (like Konami music with Capcom's drum style and vice versa). The problem, however, is when I go to use the DPCM channel.

I put in the samples and the notes, and yet, when I go to play it, nothing ever happens on that channel. It'll play as though the notes never existed.

I use the NSF Importer version to save the songs as their own file and edit them through the real Fami (I know I can't edit the songs through the NSF Importer version; this is the real Fami that's doing this to me), and I am importing the .dmc drum samples I want to use.

The way I'm doing this is that I load the file I saved from the NSF Importer version to the real Fami, then copy and paste the notes that I wanted to use from one file to another (if that makes sense).

I've tried everything from fooling around with the volumes of everything, putting the samples into the corresponding notes, everything. It still refuses to produce any sound. Is there something I'm missing from editing a file this way (I edited a noise channel of a file I saved from NSF Importer without any issues, so it's JUST the DPCM channel that does this).

I don't seem to have a problem editing/replacing DPCM samples in FTMs created with the NSF importer.

Do you know how to use the DPCM channel in Famitracker? You need to load the sample into an instrument, and set it to a specific note for that instrument, then enter that note using that instrument in the DPCM channel.

That's kind of what I'm doing, except I'm copying the actual notes from one file and pasting them into another. The files have an instrument called "blank" that I'm putting them in, and I'm using the DPCM tab to add the samples and transfer them onto the actual notes. I don't get anything.

I've also tried to manually add them (use the keyboard to enter the notes), but I haven't had any luck getting any sound.

Are you sure you're using the same instrument and octave in the pattern editor that you used to define the DPCM notes?

This seems like the sort of thing that would be 1000 times easier to explain by drawing a picture. So I did.
