I've been working my way through Danooct1's extremely helpful tutorial, and came across a little problem.

I have a mega man song in VirtuaNSF, and I understand how to seperate the channels, and listen to them individually.

What i'm having trouble with is getting the different channels to play in Audacity. I understand how to export the NSF, as a .wav file, and play it in Audacity just fine, but it imports the entire file, and I can't listen to, or break down the seperate channels. So I guess my question is, how do i import, or record everything seperately, so that i can piece it together in audacity, and then make a cover of it in Famitracker.

I looked up a few audacity tutorials on youtube, but none answered my question. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In the settings menu of VirtuaNSF there is an option called "channel mask" that will let you mute individual channels.

Though, my very biased advice is to discard VirtuaNSF and use this: [url=http://rainwarrior.ca/projects/nsfplay/]http://rainwarrior.ca/projects/nsfplay/
(It also has a "keyboard" view that will show you what all the channels are doing, visually, and you can slow down playback as well to get a really good look.)

Sooooooooooo after an extensive 15 minute session with nsfplay I kinda love it. The keyboard view is awesome, and I can avoid audacity altogether. Thanks alot rainwarrior! This is gonna help me get started with Famitracker for sure.

Or if you still want waves of the channels, you can use [url=http://icesoldier.me/towave.html]towave (another very biased opinion) to automagically split channels of lots of systems.

The more I'm using NSFplay now, the more I don't really wanna use anything else. I appreciate the input though. May come in handy to use towave down the road at some point. =]
