I was thinking that creating original music shows a different skill than covers, and I find it sort of frustrating having them both mixed together in Show Off Your Work. So wouldn't it help if they were in divided sections?

I don't really see any use for that. One compromise would be to make [Cover] or [Original] tags compulsory.

I'm with jrlepage & InterrobangPie; it's needless to do this since the Show Off Your Work board's all about showing off your work, regardless of it being original or a cover. Also, considering the sheer number of posts & files on that board, it'd take a lot of time to sort out all the originals, covers, locked & other threads.
I'd honestly much rather see a special BB code added to this forum (or any other new forum software JSR may switch to,) where users can automatically embed any NSFs into their posts using FlashNSF, but I think that was also requested & refuted too.

I don't think FlashNSF would really be a good idea seeing as how SOYW is about seeing what you can do in the tracker and receiving feedback so that you can make what you do in the tracker better. I suppose if someone just wants to take a quick listen and isn't really interested in how the music was pulled off in the first place, then maybe that would be interesting.
I suppose you could easily just start new separated sections come the forum software switch (since transferring all the data from this software to the next would probably be an overly time-consuming task, if possible at all), but I'm also with you three about keeping things the way they are.
It's an interesting idea, but what's going on right now works and if you don't already know whether something is a cover or not from the title, finding out is simply a click of the mouse away.
EDIT: Oh, and shouldn't this be in the "Site Maintenance" board? Just noticed.
