Maybe, but jrlepage said it best,

jrlepage wrote:
you[nesman] treat us like fkin lowlifes that have nothing better to do than steal your not-so-good stuff as if it's something we'd be interested in doing

That's something most of us are a bit sensitive to. We're not a forum of people gawking at NES music all day or sitting around, doing nothing but debating specs of the hardware. We're musican's and composers.

Some of us are, or have been, professional musicians getting paid gigs. Some of us are active composers directly involved with the music industry. Some of us are going to schools to pursue music professionally. Some of us are professional software engineers with paying careers. We're not a bunch of kids trying to(hopelessly) get rich with 8bits4lyfe, we're not trying to be rockstars.

This is why I think responses to inflated egos and anal copyright protection are so harsh. It's neither wanted nor needed here. No one's interested in stealing other ppl's shit and trying to make money with it.

The irony here is that even one of the most commercially successful famitracker users out there happily released his ftm files. This music was used on a commercially released game on xbox live and psn.

We're here to share and grow. Maybe it's not obvious at first, but it's the core of this community. It's the common thing to do; it's the norm, to share music and give and take criticism.

What makes it more ironic is the fact that Nesman recorded his screen while the FTM source file was opened in FamiTracker. :P

And he still insists on not distributing his source code (almost as though he thinks he can make millions off of his mediocre work).

As a matter of fact, the only track I found remotely worth criticizing/listening to before his adfly/mental issue is atariesque (& even then; the lack of syncopation, overuse of sound samples & lack of volume control on the noise channel kills the overall ambiance of the melody).

I would have asked for Nesman's permission to modify his song, insert it in my still ongoing WIP OST & include his name in the credits, but his douche-baggery completely put me off of that & makes me want to recreate a modified version from his YouTube video.

Problem, Nesman?

There's a certain de facto usertype that we just all hate, I guess.

Well, to be sure, Nesman didn't comport himself with the utmost dignity, but you know the attitude was a bit stiff to begin with. Seems like debates in fora can soon get into a feedback situation, and I think it'd be wise rather than shaking your guitar at the amp, to step back and give the amp chance to make some nicer noises.

Because, you know, people aren't a constant, and you get so little chance to see a person's true nature in here. Today you might think Nesman is an arsehole, but tomorrow, if you give him chance, he might prove himself to be a swell guy. Who knows unless you give him chance?

Not at all Dan. I found a pretty rough reception when I arrived on this site. Okay, well let's not get into that again, but you know, I just don't think there's any need for things to get so uncivil, name-calling and whatnot. Even if someone's not behaving very well.

That's my own, personal, honest opinion. No advocacy of any devils, demons or witches were involved in the making.

It's not namecalling if you call someone what they are. I see him as one of two things:

1) He is immature and needs to adapt to the ways of the internet.

2) He's just a total asshole

Being a moron can count in either one.

I'm going to agree with Delek on the fact that this topic has ran its course. It's one thing to make a comment while nesman was still here, but he has obviously been gone for two and a half pages now. All we are doing now is wasting our own individual time continuing to post and recall this event that has had its point made in numerous posts.
