Hi guys,

Just used FamiTracker to score a commercial game, dedicated the soundtrack to jsr, and released the .FTM for anyone who wants to study it / rip instruments from it / etc. I'm pointing anyone who asks how I made it over here to download the software and get started, so please be extra patient if any noobs ask noob questions.

It's "free or name your price", so enjoy.

I managed to lay my hand on an early release of the FTM 3-4 days ago, and it's been on my iPod's NSF player ever since. Fantastic work! Absolutely brilliant. I've been a fan of your stuff for ages and this soundtrack doesn't disappoint! B)

Tracks 1, 2, 3, 7 and 11 from the FTM are my personal favourites. It's all good though!

</fanboy>

EDIT: I wonder, how long did it take to write the entire soundtrack? And how long for just the Famicom+VRC6 version?

Thanks, guys! I'm glad you're enjoying checking out the source data and getting a look at my old geriatric neckbeard tracking technique.

To answer your question, the modern soundtrack came together in about a month (2-3 days per "major" track spread out over several "milestones", and the Fami version was about 3 weeks nonstop of 14-16 hour panic days, so about 300 hours. (The rush was necessary in order to finish it, since I didn't think it was going to get approved by the programmers so close to our final deadline..)

Nonsense! Your technique is fine, I can only think of small things that could be improved (such as re-using patterns to save space instead of using duplicate ones, removing repeated values in the volume column, stuff like that), but then again that would be nitpicking. :p

I'm with Mex on this though, you should definitely make more Famitracker music (if you can manage to find the time for it). I'm sure everybody here, myself included, would benefit from it a lot!

Here I was, casually marking the demo board read, when I noticed virt on one of the topics. Just on a casual listen, this is great. Now to commence the great instrument theft.

Also, I'm gonna echo the "make more FT music" thread. You're like the Midas of chiptune, and now I get to see the source scroll by as I listen.

I thought I'd make an NSFe of the Famicom soundtrack, with track names, length and fadeout... Maybe a few of you guys can find some use for that.
