I was curious on how hard it would be to make a FamiTracker-like program which does Gameboy music. I have used other programs for making Gameboy music, but non are as easy or effective.

Thanks in advance.

lsdj is pretty much as close as you get.

Oh wait. You mean something to be used on the pc? The only one I've ever used is boyscout... and it's the only one I know of.

Yeah... I have used boyscout before, but it isn't as effective or easy to use as I have found Famitracker to be... (I have actually used 3-4 different ones, boyscout being the best.)

(Wow, I basically just restated what I said before.)

Do a google search for Paragon 5's tracker. It's more advanced, and was used for many commercially released games.

I used it for a game I engineered called [url=http://www.gamemusic.ca/infinity/index.html]Infinity. The link here has musical examples.

The only problem is that it's so incredibly ugly...

Who cares what it looks like if it gets the job done better than any other software?

Well, I'm not used to trackers to begin with and Paragon5 is a heck of a lot less user-friendly than, say, FamiTracker. The job might get done better but the it's a bumpy road.

It's professional software that was released for free that you used to actually have to be a developer to use. Yeah it's hard to use but ah well.

If no one likes it, they can always write their own Game Boy trackers.

Hmm, well if you do goodluck It would be nice to have a GB tracker that would look and work very well.

Hell I'm surprised no one's taken the source to Schism Tracker (the Impulse Tracker clone) and modified it to be a hardware game system tracker or something for the NES/Genesis/GB..it would require some recoding and restructuring of how instruments work, but most of the heavy stuff is done already.

Ah well.

What somebody really needs to do is create a general-purpose tracker program that's easy to modify to handle new formats and chip architectures.

Yes, that would be nice. Something like winamp except for making music. An easily modifiable user interface would be nice, too.
