With all the various sounds from the 8-Bit era, I wonder what it would take to get the ultimate instrument collection. I'm still curious how a couple things where achieved from the masters of the Famicom chip. There was an article from the Castlevania musician (1-3) and how he found out how to get a echo reverb effect on a single channel. Also curious how the Megaman drum sound works. If anyone has some FTM songs with interesting instruments, share so we can make a library of sounds for all to share.

The mega man drum sounds consist of Noise channel notes that quickly fade out, there's nothing mysterious about them (or do you mean the toms?). Echo on a single channel means a lot of hard manual labor and is something that a preset instrument won't be able to do for you.
Well, if you ever want to emulate one of the two Triangle drum-things from Solstice using FamiTracker, just give it an arpeggio envelope of 0 -5 -12 -24 — it's used most in about 0:47-1:07 of the in-game tune.
Follin used another one, but I'd have to dig out the YANSF WinAMP plugin and look at the tunes a bit more closely.
