I was wondering if Famitracker would work on Windows CE. I thought about running Famitracker on my Dreamcast (once I get a keyboard) via Windows CE (I found a Windows CE disc for the Dreamcast on a random site that claims it can run any WinCE program).

Why? Why not?!

Uh, probably not. Windows CE is its own operating system.

Maybe if I were to cross-compile Fami from source... I know for sure that I can cross-compile Milky (C/SDL), but I've never really touched anything windows-only.

I dunno, I read that Windows NT and Windows CE are sourcecode-compatible.

well, windows CE is ARM based or something along those lines, is it not?
If famitracker was created for x86 systems than I don't see cross-compiling as an option since windows CE runs on a whole different architecture.
Milkytracker was created with cross-platform compatibility in mind, but I don't know to be honest.
Also, I'm not sure whether or not windows CE supports the desktop windows dependent libraries famitracker uses.

Everything I just said could be wrong though, so don't be surprised at all if it isn't.

Well, the Dreamcast uses a RISC processor. And the version of Windows CE that was used with the Dreamcast was slightly modified and supported DirectX.

Milkytracker does have some extra coding for the GP2X/Caanoo/Wiz and PocketPC, but it's mostly a better interface for smaller screens and getting the input to work properly, IIRC.

Anyway, maybe I could get a PPMCK setup or something instead if this doesn't work out, but MML is a bitch to use.

FamiTracker doesn't have any assembly code, I don't think. Theoretically much could be recompiled.

Where I think there would be trouble is with MFC and other Windows API stuff.

You might have endian issues too.

Meh, I don't even have an environment to cross-compile yet... I'm so busy with UScript these days, I'd probably get nothing done.
