I find my self a lot of the time in this situation.
When using the vrc7 expansion chip (another one also, can't remember which) the DPCM channel volume is lowered a lot, sure I understand that's part of the way it works.
Anyway, I turn up my speakers so that I can hear my quiet DPCM channel and of course every other channels volume is also increased. When I play notes or "key jazz" on the vrc7 channel they are now extremely loud and inappropriate.
What I am suggesting is that you can change the default playback volume for each sound chip. It could just be a "0-F" drop down list. This wouldn't change anything to do with exporting, simply just to make the program easier to use.
This is not a bug. The VRC7 is considerably louder than the 2a03 on real hardware; to account for this, the 2a03 becomes quieter when the VRC7 is enabled.
Ah yeah. I just woke up, pardon my absent-mindedness.
The problem really I think is the lack of volume envelopes for VRC7 instruments. Any other chip will let you change the instrument's volume envelope so you can test with lower volumes, but obviously you cant do that with this one. I think that's what we need really, wouldn't you think?
You're right, perhaps it could do with a volume envelope.
But I know a a lot of people like to control volume via the volume column. When doing this with any other chip I leave the volume envelope as default. So even if the feature you mentioned was implemented it would not personally solve this issue for me.
