Alright, so I know that there's already a space in Famitracker for song name, composer, and copyrights, but not everyone uses them, and it's weird when posting covers... What if there was a system where the website automatically saved the uploader's username into the .ftm, so that burning questions like "Who did 102_cvporch" can be answered?

That should be left up to the users though shouldn't it... Like for instance I input author info in my covers as follows:

<title>
<original author> cv:jrlepage
(c) 2012 jrlepage

or if the original author line is too long

<title>
<original author>
2012 cv:jrlepage

I use it as:
<title>
~2012 Interrobang Pie
<hilarious comment OR original author if it's a cover/remix>

Also didn't nicetas_c do 102_cvporch, or was that a rhetorical question of sorts?

2 things:

1) Yeah, I guess that would work... I'm just trying to sort out all of the FTMs I have, and figured it'd be nice if that stuff was always labeled by uploader instead of composer. Still, those two methods will work.

2) Okay, so that was nicetas_c. Sorry about the typo bro.

Maybe fill something in when the field is blank? That way, you can hold on to your preferred naming conventions, and people who don't fill in their name get identified. Doesn't stop people from putting 'asdf' in every field though to maintain anonymity. (EDIT: or as a joke.)

I just use the same naming convention that most NES game rips use:

Title
Author(s)
Year

But honestly, people should be free to do whatever they want with whatever text field; it's an open format anyways.

It would be nice to be able to save defaults in the config file for stuff that would appear in those fields when a new file is created. Then you could edit them to your heart's content afterward.

Yeah, that does sound good.... in fact, if you really wanted to, you could even leave the field blank, and only fill it in if you want to be immortalized forever in history as the person who wrote that FTM.

I think a better option is to rename or store files in folders so you know who made what.
